Introduction for the New Mousehunter!

Welcome to Mousehunt! This is part one of five guides. If you are looking for a more advanced help guide than a novice would need, then please scroll down to the bottom of the page and go to your desired rank.

For the new Mousehunter, you may be wondering why you are here; well you are here because you are interested in the ever so popular game of Mousehunt on Facebook. I don't blame you; I have been an avid player since day one! What helped me get really into the game was to play the game along with a good friend of mine. He gave me both a reason to keep playing and also good competition. To this day we still race, but he has pulled a fair distance past me. Now that you know why you should play the game, let's get into what you should do as a novice.

What You Should Do as a Novice

Before you can get into the main game, Larry gives you a choice between the Tacky Glue Trap and the High Tension Spring. You should pick the Tacky Glue Trap to receive best results. As a novice there isn't a whole heck of a lot that you can do. You should stay in the Town of Gnawnia until you achieve the rank of apprentice and the cheese you use should be cheddar. Right now, using anything other than cheddar would be a waste because you do not have a very strong trap and it would not be profitable. Keep replenishing cheese as you need to. Once you have saved up enough gold for the Wooden Base with Target, I suggest that you buy it. Try to resist all urges to buy a new trap, they are not worth it. If you do so desire to, you may buy the 500 Pound Spiked Crusher, but it will only make a slight difference. Keep catching mice and buying cheese when you need to. Finally after saving for a few days you should have enough money for the Mouse Trebuchet. Go ahead and buy it ;). Now that you are equipped with your Mouse Trebuchet and Wooden Base with Target you are ready to move to the next piece of cheese, the marble cheese. Both this cheese and the trap should take you right into the next level of Apprentice.

Recap and Other Things to Look Into

  • Select Tacky Glue Trap
  • Purchase the Wooden Base with Target
  • Purchase the Mouse Trebuchet
  • Sell your cheddar cheese and buy marble instead
  • Look into the various forum areas
  • Look into getting a Mentor (forums)

King's Check

Occasionally (approximately every 3 hours I believe) you will receive a page that looks like the page to the right instead of whatever page you were trying to load. It is a King's Check and all it is is a way for them to make sure people are not using bots to play the game.

They suck and they are monotonous, but the good thing is that after answering one you receive some kind of reward. Sometimes the reward is the various cheeses (cheddar, marble, brie, gouda), points, or it can be money.
